Lots of news from Jampa Ling! Desmond represented Jampa Ling at a World Religions discussion group in Cavan during the spring; following this about 20 people from the group visited the Centre. More recently, Joy O’Reilly also lead a very successful Silent Meditation weekend.
Saga Dawa was another tremendously successful event and somewhat unusual in that it included the arrival of an enormous amount of vintage cars!! You can get a full report by Anglea McCabe here!
In May, Eileen Stephens offered a Mandala to the whole nation via Radio 1. She had been invited to speak about Buddhism on the John Murray Show. Apparently Eurovision entrant Rory Dolan had revealed that he used meditation to calm his nerves and Radio 1 wanted to interview other singers who practised meditation. Miriam O’Callaghan asked Eileen how meditation had helped her as a performer and to give an example of a meditative chant. Eileen chose the Short Mandala Offering prayer and gave a beautiful rendition live on air. You can listen to the interview here (Eileen starts at 2 mins and 30 seconds in).
On May 4th, Jampa Ling’s famous Three-Legged-Race team got into serious training for an event at Bawnboy GAA club. GAA clubs all over Ireland were trying the break the Guinness Book of Records for the greatest number of people taking part in one day in the whole country. Des and Will came first in the Jampa Ling heat. Other participants roped together were Val and Tracy, woofers Isabella and Lucia, Catriona and Anne, Olivia and Niamh. Rinpoche, Anila and Younam cheered us on. The event was organised as part of The Gathering Ireland 2013.
Rinpoche will be leaving for Mongolia at the end of this month. We’d like to request that people donate clothing and other items they have available to generate money for charitable causes in Mongolia. We accept clothing, shoes and boots (paired), bags, curtains, bed linen (clean and dry please). If coming to the Centre you can leave the bags at the Office in Tara House or with Angela at Natural Healing Centre, Ballinamore. We can arrange for local collection if required. We are very grateful to everyone who has donating clothing for Asral Charity this year and in previous years.
Thanks for making a difference!
Please note we have several events coming up:
Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Lauren Hensey
Sanga and friends weekend
