fundamentalsTuesdays 6th of May until 3rd of June

 The Fundamental Practices of Tibetan Buddhism.

Taught by Ven Ani Tenzin Choeden Each Tuesday for five weeks starting at 4 p.m.  A deep understanding of these practices is vital for both old and new students wishing to achieve benefit from the teachings of the Buddha.

 

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June

SILENT MEDITATION WEEKEND

Come join us for a residential retreat weekend spent in silence. One can do either or both of the days. The weekend can be a time of spiritual renewal. paper peoplePeople are free to do meditation from the Buddhist tradition or from their own traditions. There will be time for relaxing and absorbing the peace and quiet of the centre and an option for a discussion on the Saturday evening if people would like this. Suitable for everyone. You are welcome to arrive on the Friday evening if you wish.

 

Cost: Residential €160. Non Residential €90. One day only €45

SUMMER SOLSTICE 

summer_solsticeMidsummer’s Day has been a traditional time for friends to gather together and mark this significant occasion in the yearly round.  Summer Solstice ceremonies have been carried out for many centuries in Tibet and other areas of the world.  In Tibet, Buddhist ceremonies are done to purify the environment of any negative energies.

The ceremonies start in the shrine room at Jampa Ling and continue in the gardens.

Starts at 2.30 p.m.   – Everyone welcome. Cost: free

 

** On this weekend we are holding two events. Some people may enjoy the opportunity to stay on Saturday night and attend the day of Sitting with Ani Tenzin Choeden the next day.***

 

 

Sunday 22nd June

A DAY OF SITTING WITH ANI TENZIN CHOEDEN

 

Why Buddhism? Who was the Buddha? What were His teachings?  Why meditate?  sitting_anila

Ani Tenzin Choeden  is a Western  Tibetan-Buddhist Nun at Jampa Ling Buddhist Centre

She was Ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1998.

Raised as a Christian, she started practising Buddhism in 1978 and received teachings from many Tibetan Lamas.

In 1990 the Ven Panchen Otrul Rinpoche accepted her as his student.  She has lived at  Jampa Ling since then, traveling with Ven Rinpoche  to India, and Mongolia.

This day is an opportunity to spend time sitting with Ani-La and receive instruction in the practice of Buddhist philosophy. Get a taste of what meditation is about.

Starts at 10.30am. Cost: €50 (includes Lunch)

LONG-LIFE PRAYERS for VEN. PANCHEN ÖTRUL RINPOCHErinpoche

As Rinpoche’s students we are greatly indebted to him for our progress in the Dharma. His presence, his knowledge and his skill as a teacher are essential to us all as we try to make progress.  It is with this thought that we gather to pray for his continuing good health and long life. The prayers and practices are to help to bring us closer to Rinpoche and to help him transmit the teachings to us.

Please bring vegetarian food to share,  Cost: free  Starts at 9.30a.m.

MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS                                              

meditation_beginFeeling anxious or stressed? Learn techniques on how to develop a calm and  peaceful mind through meditation. The value of meditation in different areas of our lives is gaining recognition – in health, education and for general happiness  and well-being. This introduction to meditation will give you a personal experience of a calmer and more peaceful mind.

Every year at Jampa Ling we celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama  and this year on his 79th birthday we again celebrate with prayers for his long life  and good health. This is always a lovely occasion and everybody is welcome.

UNIVERSAL DAY OF PRAYERdl_prayer

 A day of prayer for world peace, initiated by H.H. The Dalai Lama. Prayers will be said over the course of the day. There will be several showings of a DVD on Compassion with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and people will be available to answer questions.

Everybody is welcome to join the prayers at some time during the day.

Starts at 9.30 a.m., but come at any time that suits, and join in.

 

The weekend of Sat 19th & Sun 20th July 

 WORK WEEKEND

keep-calm-and-work-weekend-2These weekends are a great opportunity to come and help at Jampa Ling and meet new friends in an informal setting. The centre needs continual maintenance and the tasks completed on these weekends are a tremendous help to the centre. Everyone is welcome, whether skilled or unskilled. This is a very good opportunity for new people to come and visit the centre.

Accommodation and meals are offered in return for work.

 A PEACEFUL MIND – A PEACEFUL LIFE with Joy O’Reilly

Joy has been a student of Rinpoche for many years. She is also an experienced psychologist and she runs group meditation sessions in Sligo under the guidance of Rinpoche.
This is a weekend of guided meditations to help us develop awareness of what brings us peace of mind and harmony in our lives.  We all wish for a calmer and more fulfilling life and these meditations help us look at what may bring us this. There will be sitting meditations and a period of walking meditation. It will be possible to have a discussion or question and answer period on the Saturday night if participants would like that. You are welcome to arrive on the Friday evening if you wish. The retreat will be in Silence.

OPEN DAY

Linked with Bawnboy’s Festival Week. Everyone is invited to spend an informal day at the  centre, and to enjoy the garden and grounds with your friends and relatives. Stay for a cup of tea and visit our craft shop. There will also be a Cake Sale and a Book  Sale to raise funds for Asral Charity, Rinpoche’s Mongolian project. Offers to help on the day are greatly appreciated – please contact the centre.   2:30pm-5pm

Sat 9th August  

 VINYASA FLOW YOGA with Lauren Hensey

A day of Yoga with Lauren. Lauren is an experienced yoga teacher and regularly runs  yoga classes in Sligo. You will be guided through a day of Vinyasa Yoga suitable for all physical abilities. We will progress gently and safely through yoga  asanas, relaxation and brief periods of guided meditation. Our focus will be on taking some time out for ourselves to breathe and open the body, cultivating spaciousness in thought and meeting new friends in the process.

Come, enjoy the day and relax, wear comfy clothes; mats and other props will be provided.

11.30 am – 4pm.  Cost €45 including lunch; the full cost of the day will be donated to Asral Charity, which is Rinpoche’s project in Mongolia.

NATURAL VOICE and SINGING WORKSHOP 

Led by Anna Felton and Eileen Stephens

This highly popular workshop gives us the opportunity to express ourselves in song.

No previous singing ability is necessary – just to learn to enjoy the sound of your own voice and have fun singing.
