The weekend of Sat 21st May and Sun 22nd May

mahaparinirvanaSaturday 21st May Vesak SAGA DAWA Celebrating the Buddha’s life – starts at 11am                               Saga Dawa is the celebration of the Buddha’s birthday, enlightenment and entering Nirvana. It is also known as Vesak in Sanskrit. We invite you to share this special day at Jampa Ling. Everyone is welcome.

We celebrate with a Smoke Puja (traditional Tibetan purification ceremony) in the garden and prayers in the Shrine Room with the gracious presence of Ven Lama Panchen Otrul Rinpoche. Cost – free

Please bring vegetarian food to share- and your musical instruments if you would like to play!

  • Sunday 22nd May  MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS

Feeling anxious or stressed? Learn techniques on how to develop a calm and peaceful mind through meditation. The value of meditation in different areas of our lives is gaining recognition – in health, education and for general happiness and well-being.

This introduction to meditation will give you a personal experience of a calmer and more peaceful mind.                                                                10.30am – 4pm. Cost €45 (includes Lunch)

  • The weekend of Sat 28th & Sun 29th May: A PEACEFUL MIND –  A PEACEFUL LIFE                    This is a weekend of guided meditations to help us develop awareness of what brings us peace of mind and harmony in our lives. We all wish for a calmer and more fulfilling life and these meditations help us to look at what may bring us this. There will be sitting meditations and a period of walking meditation. It will be possible to have a discussion or question and answer period on the Saturday night if participants would like that. You are welcome to arrive on the Friday evening if you wish.

The Retreat will be in Silence. Cost: Residential €160. Non Residential: €90. One day only €45

 

  • The weekend of Saturday 4th & Sun 5th June (June Bank Holiday weekend): SANGHA AND FRIENDS WEEKEND

A weekend for students and friends of Jampa Ling to come and relax at the centre, renew friendships and enjoy the daily practices. One or two activities can be arranged when people arrive.

Cost: €80 includes 2 nights’ accommodation and full board.

 

  • The weekend of Sat 11th June & Sun 12th June: SILENT MEDITATION WEEKEND

Come and join us for a residential retreat weekend spent in silence. One can do either or both of the days. The weekend can be a time of spiritual renewal. People are free to do meditation from the Buddhist tradition or from their own traditions. There will be time for relaxing and absorbing the peace and quiet of the centre and an option for a discussion on the Saturday evening if people would like this. Suitable for everyone. You are welcome to arrive on the Friday evening if you wish.

Cost: Residential €160. Non Residential €90. One day only €45

 

  • Sunday 19th June: LONG LIFE PRAYERS  for Ven Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche – starts at 9.30am.

As Rinpoche’s students we are greatly indebted to him for our progress in the Dharma. His presence, his knowledge and his skill as a teacher are essential to us all as we try to make progress. It is with this thought that we gather to pray for his continuing good health and long life. The prayers and practices are to help to bring us closer to Rinpoche and to help him transmit the teachings to us.

Please bring vegetarian food to share. Cost – free

  • Tuesday 21st June: SUMMER SOLSTICE

Midsummer’s Day has been a traditional time for friends to gather together and mark this significant occasion in the yearly round. Summer Solstice ceremonies have been carried out for many centuries in Tibet and other areas of the world. In Tibet, Buddhist ceremonies are done to purify the environment of any negative energies.The ceremonies start in the shrine room at Jampa Ling and continue in the gardens.  Starts at 2.30pm. Everyone welcome. Cost: free

 

  • The weekend of Sat 25th June and Sun 26th June

Saturday 25th June A DAY OF SITTING WITH ANI TENZIN CHOEDEN

Why Buddhism? Who was the Buddha? What were His teachings?  Why meditate?

Ani Tenzin Choeden  is a Western Tibetan Buddhist Nun at Jampa Ling Buddhist Centre. She was ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1998 and has received teachings from many Tibetan Lamas.

This day is an opportunity to spend time sitting with Ani-La and receive instruction in the practice of Buddhist philosophy and also to get a taste of what meditation is about.

Starts at 10.30am. Cost: €50 (incl Lunch)

  • Sunday 3rd July:  BIRTHDAY of H.H THE DALAI LAMA

Every year at Jampa Ling we celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and this year on his 81st  birthday we again celebrate with prayers for his long life  and good health. This is always a lovely occasion and everybody is welcome.Starts at 11am. Cost – free

Please bring vegetarian food to share – and your musical instruments if you would like to play!

  • Tuesday 19th July: UNIVERSAL DAY OF PRAYER

A day of prayer for world peace, initiated by H.H. The Dalai Lama. Prayers will be said over the course of the day. There will be several showings of a DVD on Compassion with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and people will be available to answer questions.

Everybody is welcome to join the prayers at some time during the day.  Starts at 9.30 am, but come at any time that suits, and join in.

These weekends are a great opportunity to come and help at Jampa Ling and meet new friends in an informal setting. The centre needs continual maintenance and the tasks completed on these weekends are a tremendous help to the centre. Everyone is welcome, whether skilled or unskilled. This is a very good opportunity for new people to come and visit the centre.

Accommodation and meals are offered in return for work.
