Cavan Walking Festival
As part of the Cavan Walking Festival, Jampa Ling hosted an evening with the walkers, which
included tea and light refreshments and some meditation and yoga in the woodland walk. It was
lovely to see such a turn-out!
Yoga & Meditation, Vesak – Saga Dawa, Meditation for Beginners & Sangha and Friends
These were lovely weekends to begin the summer with, and the weather matched them. All were well attended and the attendees and retreatants really enjoyed them.
The Yoga and Meditation
Day offered an introduction to yoga and pranayama and a tour of Jampa Ling along with some meditation.
Vesak – Saga Dawa marks the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of the Buddha and it is regarded as a very important day. In the morning there was a chanting ceremony outside, followed by prayers in the Shine room. Attendees were welcome to bring a vegetarian lunch to share. In the afternoon everyone gather together in song and dance, with the aid of some musicians.
The Meditation for Beginners day offered an introduction to general meditation techniques, including the correct sitting posture; whether on a chair or on a cushion or stool, and techniques that can be used to calm and focus the mind. A calm mind is more focused and comfortable.
The day offered both sitting and walking meditation, and some awareness time.
The Sangha and Friends weekend included yoga, Tai Ji, meditation and the Buddhist game of Karma. There was ample time for people to gather together, relax and to have a chat.
Yoga with Isabella
One of our volunteers, Isabella, is now a fully qualified yoga teacher. Many congratulations to her! She offers weekly yoga classes in Jampa Ling. Please contact us for further information.
Donations are in aid of the House Fund.
Come and join us every Wednesday for our community gardening day from 10am. Our main gardener, Aisling, will be there and she and the other volunteers would really love you to give them a hand.
Meditations at Jampa Ling
We have three meditation practices every day at Jampa Ling. We also have two additional meditation practices – Meditation for Beginners every Monday night from 7pm to 8pm and a Mindfulness/Awareness Mediation every Wednesday night from 7pm to 8pm – both are in Tara House. There is no need to book to come to these, just simply show up. They are donation-based.

This May we had three WWOOFers, Pierre, Sylvain and Yulan. All three are from France. Pierre was a familiar face – he WWOOFed with us over 2 years ago.
