‘Normally we seek happiness in objects of our external senses, like nice clothes, tasty food and so on. These are not reliable. The happiness they bring doesn’t last long. Eventually the time will come when we have to leave behind all our possessions. Through this understanding we can learn to cultivate contentment in our daily lives, which will bring deeper satisfaction and longer lasting happiness.’

The Venerable Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche.
