‘One Tibetan Master who used to be a robber, wanted to transform his mind. He had a pile of black stones and a pile of white stones. Whenever he did negative actions he put a black stone out. Whenever he did a positive action he put a white stone out.
In the beginning he had more black stones than white stones out. Seeing this helped him develop awareness of his negative actions.
Slowly then overtime, with this awareness, he was able to gradually transform his mind by avoiding negative actions and adopting and increasing positive actions.’
The Venerable Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche.
