‘Normally our love and compassion have some level of discrimination. To develop pure love and pure compassion to all sentient beings start by visualising in front of you those to whom you feel close to and those you would consider enemies.

Try to realise that these two groups of people are no different from yourself in that they have emotional disturbances. Wish them to be free from all these disturbances.

Slowly, slowly overtime you will develop pure love and pure compassion and then be able to extend this to all other sentient beings.’

The Venerable Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche.
