Ven. Rinpoche arrived safely at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, at 11:05am. He was received at the Airport lounge by Ven. Thuksay Rinpoche, Ven. Kundu Sangpo (Abbot of the Lamrim Monastery in Ulanbaataar), Ueli Minder (Board Member of Asral Charity), Ugaana (Board Member of Asral Charity), Davaa (Director of Asral Charity) and many other students and friends of Ven. Rinpoche. Mongolian TV9 and TV5 were at the airport and centre to cover his arrival. He was welcomed by many other students and friends at the centre, all carrying traditional-coloured scarves. The students offered long life prayers and mandala offerings to Ven. Rinpoche. Ven. Rinpoche expressed his warm wishes to all his students and gave a brief teaching on living a meaningful life. He expressed his gratitude to all the people and organisations that have contributed and supported his charitable projects in Mongolia.
He was interviewed by Channel 9 Television News about the purpose of his visit and his work in Mongolia. Ven. Rinpoche greeted the Mongolian people and spoke about the various humanitarian projects that Asral Charity does in Mongolia. He spoke briefly about how he first came to Mongolia in 1995 along with HH the Dalai Lama. Ven. Rinpoche was asked by HH the Dalai Lama to help with the re-establishment of Buddhism in Mongolia and to give Dharma teachings to Mongolian people.
Since then Ven. Rinpoche has been visiting Mongolia every year. He has established a Buddhist centre called Kunkhyab Jampa Ling and also a charity called Asral NGO in Mongolia. These organisations have benefited thousands of impoverished people from the shanty towns of Ulanbaataar city and from other regions in Mongolia.
